Chinese and Any Other Asian: Book Launch
Join local author Anna Sulan Masing for the launch of her debut book!
Time & Location
06 Feb 2025, 18:30 – 20:00
The Scarlett Letters Bookshop, 140 Cambridge Heath Rd, Bethnal Green, London E1 5QJ, UK
About the event
'Chinese’ or ‘Any Other Asian'. The boxes that people of vastly varied East and South East Asian heritage have to tick when declaring their ethnicity on many forms in the UK. This represents a shameful sweeping together of a diverse heritage and experience.
East and South East Asian people have lived and worked in the UK for centuries, fought for the British Army in both world wars, have influenced British culture through food, writing, music and art in a multitude of ways. And yet this influence is often overlooked, and even ignored.
Doors will open at 6:30pm for a 7pm start.
There will be a reading from the book, followed by a conversation between author Anna Sulan Masing and the host, writer and journalist Apoorva Sripathi. This will be followed by a Q&A with the audience and a book signing!
