Time & Location
08 Jun 2025, 18:30 – 20:30

About the event
Join us for an evening at The Scarlett Letters bookshop in conversation with writer, comedian and historian Juliana Gleeson!
Hermaphrodite Logic is a bold examination of intersex liberation. Juliana reveals how from the 1990s, a new movement challenged systemic medical abuses to reshape our understanding of sex. Blending philosophical insights and personal testimonies, the book reflects on how intersex people have been harmed - not just for therapeutic reasons, but to ease professional and parental anxieties.
The event will feature a reading from Hermaphrodite Logic: A History of Intersex Liberation, followed by discussion with moderator Alex Stoffel, author of Eros and Empire: The Transnational Struggle for Sexual Freedom in the United States.
Doors will open just after 6pm for a 6:30pm start.
